Works can be sent later than you have completed them, but necessarily with the date when you painted or completed it.
And then we'll place it under the corresponding date.
You might ask: “Why is it that the date is so important?”
Simply, we are creating a calendar, our mutual “diary”, an “agenda”.

Incomprehensibly and mysteriously a human being is able to perceive the Beautiful.
Without beauty, a human soul is sad, it suffers from ‘cultural avitaminosis’. At all stages of the world’s history human culture is saturated by the search for beauty.
In the present day world culture underwent secularization, which lead to a general discord and confusion. The chastity of the Christian view of the world was lost. “Theatre of absurdity”, “porno aesthetics”, “anarchic kitsch”, etc. — these are the aesthetic coordinates defining the culture of the 20th century. The schism of aesthetic ideals and ethic roots produces anti-aesthetics. Yet even amongst disintegration the human soul does not stop craving for beauty.

The concept of the project “To the Light” was developed in 1997. Its essential idea is that each day a painting is to be born, a painting full of the good, of light and of love, as a visible prayer, as one step of the way towards God.
Every day, starting from the 1st of January 2004, artists, who respond to the project, may send their works to our web-site.

Every God’s day shall be reflected in a painting, as a sign of good and love. Perhaps, several paintings are finished on the same day by different artists in different countries. However, it is important that all works are done in one day, without preparations, and that they are full of light and good.
Not every artist can complete a large painting in oil on canvas in one day, thus you can send your works done in a longer time period, but it is important that your work appears on the web-site on the day of its completion in 2004.

You can send a sketch of a painting which you will later complete for an exhibition. “To the Light” project is launching on the 1st of January 2004. On the 31st of December we are expecting to see a calendar painted by artists of different countries. 365 days — 365 luminous paintings.

The project is open to all creative people. Look inside yourself and maybe on the ashes of a scorched soul you will see a crying angel, or, perhaps an angel rejoicing to the fragrance of heavenly gardens…
We have already got two years captured as a daily visible prayer by various artists of Russia. Paintings depicting each day’s guardian angel.
In 2001 10 artists and 2 children painted angels every day on a canvas sized 200×180 cm.
Angels-Protectors.
In 2002 10 artists painted angels every day on 12 separate canvasses (according to the number of months in a year) sized 50×60 cm. These can be seen in the gallery.
We would like that the year 2004 is also captured in a daily prayer by painters from different countries.
The second stage of the project shall be preparatory for the exhibition. Perhaps, some other museum or a gallery capable of placing 365 paintings will take up organization of this exhibition.
Artists shall come, and bring their works… And we’ll see how we lived through this year, each of us, and all together, on this wonderful planet EARTH’ And we’ll praise the Lord for LIFE, for LOVE, for LIGHT. Each painting — a day in a life — a blink of an eye — a water drop — a ray of light.
